This cottage served as one of the original telegraph stations in South Australia, following the extension of the telegraph line from Adelaide to Angaston. Back then, the village of Greenock became a significant stop over for travellers on the way to the Murray River or interstate, and a popular meeting place for locals. Today it is a quiet village surrounded by vineyards and pastures.



The Old Telegraph Station was built in 1860, and was the original Telegraph Station for the area, being one of the first in South Australia.

Today The Old Telegraph Station has been lovingly and well restored into a beautiful Barossa bed and breakfast. With its peaceful location in the quaint town of Greenock , The Old Telegraph Station offers visitors a relaxing environment while still being situated within the heart of the world famous Barossa Valley .



The accommodation consists of one queen room and one double room plus a sofa bed, offering a catered maximum for 5 adults, well appointed living room with slow combustion fire for those cool winter nights, modern country-style kitchen with all necessary cutlery, crockery, and cooking utensils. The large bathroom features a lovely 2 person spa bath, perfect for that romantic getaway to the tranquil Barossa Valley .

All linen, towels, and bathrobes are supplied for each guest for use during their stay.



Along with its old-world charm Greenock's Old Telegraph Station features 32" LCD television with a selection of DVD's, air conditioning, electric blankets on both beds for those cool Barossan evenings, washing machine, and an outdoor BBQ, for those relaxing warm summer evenings in the Barossa Valley, made complete with a bottle of fine local wine.



To make you stay all the more complete, guests receive a complementary bottle of locally produced Barossan wine, some locally produced port and chocolates.

Off street parking is available on site for a maximum of 2 cars, and there is plenty of kerb side parking directly out front.

Located 70 kilometres North East of Adelaide you can find the best access by road in just over an hour from the City of Adelaide.
Barossa by road take either Main North Road (A20) to Sturt Highway or Port Wakefield Road and the Northern Expressway to Sturt Highway.

Also from Adelaide City take Lower North East Road (A10) out of Adelaide and travel through Chain of Ponds in the Adelaide Hills to Williamstown in the southern Barossa. If you are heading from Melbourne entering The Barossa via Eden Valley, turn off at Murray Bridge and then Palmer to Tungkillo and then turn at Mount Pleasant. If you are travelling from Sydney and Mildura, take the A20 through Renmark and then Truro through to Nuriootpa.

Barossa Valley from the air your plane will land at Adelaide International Airport with regular domestic and international flights, with rental cars available at the airport. If you require private charters a light-plane airport is at Parafield, just 45 minutes south of the Barossa. Helicopter charters are also available from Adelaide and The Barossa Region.

The Barossa Valley provides six golf courses across the region, four of which are 18 hole golf courses and two are 9 hole golf courses, one is Barossa Valley Golf Club. These courses are all member owned golf clubs except for Tanunda Pines Golf Club which is privately owned by some of Australia 's local vignerons, and which is considered to be one of the top four regional golf courses in South Australia.

Tanunda Club was established in 1891, and exists to fund schools, sporting clubs and other organizations. Barossa Valley has many eating venues and Tanunda Club is just as good as them all. With an open fire and a relaxed atmosphere sit and enjoy your meal and a drink at the end of a long day of touring
Open 6 days of the week for lunch Mondays to Saturdays and dinner Wednesdays to Saturdays. On the menu gourmet fish platters, schnitzels, Steaks, burgers and daily specials, the option of a children's menu as well.
Other events at the Tanunda Club include Trivia Night every Wednesday, four pool tables and pinball machines, golf game, fuse ball, car racing, jukebox, video clips and more to keep you entertained.
If you are looking to hold a seminar of corporate function whilst in The Barossa Valley then the Tanunda Club is a great function centre, taking conferences up to 250 people.
